Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Competition of the National Youth Science and Technology Education Achievement Exhibition Contest, with the theme of “Science and Technology Development with My Contribution“, was successfully held in Guangzhou. The contest included VEX IQ and VRC competitions, attracting more than 690 participants from 230+ VEX robot elite teams from all over Guangdong Province.
Our school students, P5A Leo Li, Ethan Yao and P4A Aiden Deng, participated in the competition for the first time. After unremitting efforts and persistence, they won the third prize. Congratulations!
In the process of team activities, the three students of our school always used their leadership, kept the big picture in mind, focused on the complete competition process, took responsibility, and completed tasks such as resource integration, personnel deployment, project progress, and time management.
Following the robot requirements listed in the competition rules, they built a complete robot by using robot structural parts and electronic parts, including main control, motor, various sensors, etc., and programmed it. In the process, the robot achieved the set goal and completed the challenge through manual operation and automatic programme.
The VEX IQ Challenge featured a teamwork challenge mode. It required two robots to form an alliance, each controlled by its operator, and cooperate to complete the task in each round; each round lasts 60 seconds, and the operators should be changed when there are 25 to 35 seconds before the game ends. Our three students kept preparing for the competition. Aiden did the first-hand operation, and Leo and Ethan took turns to do the second-hand operation, reaching a good tacit understanding.
During the competition process, the communication between different teams, different schools and even different countries and cultures is emphasized, and competing in cooperation and cooperating in competition is encouraged. Through the competition, the students have cultivated a sound personality and positive psychological quality. At the same time, the students have learned to manage their emotions, and have enhanced their ability to face setbacks. In addition, the competition process also emphasizes that students use different communication methods and multiple languages to communicate between different cultures, thus laying a solid foundation for cultivating international talents.
A new journey lies ahead of you! We look forward to more BMH students joining us and making great achievements together!
VEXrobot competitionThe VEX robot competition promotes science and technology, highlights creativity and innovation, strengthens team contributions, and cultivates scientific literacy. Through computer programming, engineering design, hands-on production and mechanical structure construction, combined with daily observation and accumulation, children seek their own perfect solutions and develop their creativity.
This competition is open to primary school students to college students around the world. It attracts millions of young people from more than 40 countries around the world to participate every year. It has the most complete system, the widest range of participation, and the largest number of participants. It was recorded in the "Guinness Book of World Records", and broke the world record again in the 2018 World Championships with 1648 teams!
